Cubenx
Conceived by Cesar Urbina, Cubenx hails from the mexican pacific coast, a geographic situation that gives a certain feeling of isolation from musical trends and inspires more to a search of particular “feel good” sounds. The main influences are very distant from each other, with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Lee Hazlewood, Brian Eno, Basic Channel, New Order, Slowdive and early 4AD records; all of them having in common wide open spaces in sound design with a strong melodic and nostalgic feeling. Cubenx applies new democratic and simple digital techniques, always different in each track to produce the same feeling and rapport with the listener, without technology being the center of the idea but with full gratitude to software engineering and opensource sound processing. Sounds are as well taken from acoustic sources, found sounds and simply sampling, á la concrète. His live presentations range from electronica to beakbeat and techno influenced beats.
